VIDEO PRODUCTION
CAN TV holds free orientation sessions to introduce Chicago residents
to the opportunities available at CAN TV.
Sessions are held at 322 South Green Street and do not require a reservation. Please be prompt. There is
no admittance once the class starts.
Bring a photo ID with proof of city of Chicago street address, or a
letter on organizational letterhead authorizing you to represent a nonprofit
group based in the city of Chicago.
To reserve a spot in a video production class or certification exam,
you can place a $25 deposit after the orientation session.

Examinations will be offered to individuals who have
video production experience and desire to become certified
access users without undergoing basic hands-on training
at CAN TV. Anyone wishing to take a proficiency exam
who is not already a certified user must first attend
an orientation session.
The purpose of taking video production training at
Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV) is to become eligible
to produce noncommercial programming using CAN TV’s
equipment and facilities.

INTRODUCTION TO CAN TV (ORIENTATION)
Learn how to participate in public access television in Chicago. This one-hour session is held regularly and is free of charge.

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEO PRODUCTION (IVP)
A detailed overview of different video production methods. Identify the most effective uses of video for your particular program ideas and needs. Develop pre-production skills and learn to write a treatment. Classes meet for one 6-hour session on weekends or twice for 3 hours on weeknights.

BASIC STUDIO
Procedures and techniques for camera operation, directing, audio, switching, lighting and electronic titling in our main studio. Classes meet once for 4 hours, then once a week for 8 hours with a 1-hour lunch break on 3 consecutive weekends.

BASIC PORTABLE AND EDITING
On-location production using a digital video camcorder, microphones and lights. Classes are offered in weeknight and weekend sessions. Classes meet once a week for 4 hours for 5 consecutive weeks. Includes basic editing with the non-linear Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 system.

BASIC PORTABLE
Class meets for 4 hours for 2 consecutive weeks.

P.V.O.M. (Portable Video Operations Module)
Combine portable and studio methods with our 2-camera, Mini-DV
production system. Classes meet once a week for 8 hours on
3 consecutive weekends.

NON-LINEAR EDITING
Edit pre-recorded footage into
completed programs with the new non-linear Adobe Premiere
Pro 2.0 system. Classes meet once a week for 4 hours
for 3 consecutive weeks.

Introduction to Non-Linear Editing Workshop
A 4 hour session introducing the use of computers for
non-linear editing.

Free, hands-on, supervised practice for certified users in studio, field production and electronic titling.
