Chicago residents can choose from a wide range of affordable classes to gain the skills needed to make a video fit for TV.
Complete the training and become a CAN TV Producer Member (pay online), which gives you access to digital cameras, editing software, a TV studio–whatever you’re trained to use.
Already experienced? CAN TV offers certification exams ($50 fee) for all of our workshops. Contact training@cantv.org for more information.

This is the place to start learning about CAN TV. Find out basic information about CAN TV, how to produce your own shows to air on CAN TV’s five cable channels and more. One 1-hour session.
Cost: Free
In hands-on sessions, learn to use studio cameras, lights, an audio board and production switcher. Six 3-hour sessions on weeknights, or on weekends, four 6-hour sessions (20 hours Total)
Prerequisite: Orientation
Cost: $200
These hands-on sessions give you the skills to use portable digital video cameras, microphones, lights and more. Three 3-hour sessions (9 hours total).
Prerequisite: Orientation
Cost: $75
These classes give you the experience to use Adobe Elements to edit a complete show. Three 3-hour sessions (9 hours total).
Prerequisite: Orientation
Cost: $100
Learn to produce a multi-camera production on the road (not in the studio) with lights, microphones and a portable switcher. Three 6-hour sessions (18 hours total).
